Hearing Bells
It’s said that the Kidneys open to the ears, and that like the Kidneys which never stop working day and night, our ears have an opening which never closes. The ears are related primarily to the water element. Hearing is therefore mostly associated with the Kidneys.
The onset of tinnitus, commonly characterized by a persistent ringing sensation in the ears, typically manifests in later stages of life. This occurrence is attributed to the gradual decrease in the body's Yin Ki over time. As individuals age, the essential fluids associated with the wood and water elements, namely Kidneys and Liver, begin to diminish. Consequently, this depletion triggers an upsurge of Ki towards the head and ears, exacerbating the symptoms of tinnitus.
Although this is most often a problem that has been developing for years, this condition does respond well to treatment. Acupuncture and moxibustion is effective in silencing the bells. It can also be great at resolving ear pain from inflamed ear canals.
